Fundraising Intern

As a charity, SRYP gets its funding from a variety of sources such as The Big Lottery, grants and charitable donations and payments from other bodies for some of the services we supply such as our Employability work.

SRYP has an annual budget of about £850 000 so you see we have to work really hard to secure funding to continue our important work. In the current economic climate, some of that funding is increasingly hard to come by, we put in what we think is a really good bid from a promising source and then we are disappointed.

We have to be increasingly innovative and creative and we need to persuade funders that if they support us, they are going to get value for money. Which is where you come in........

Working here, you will be doing your bit in our important work to support young people in Somerset, but you will be gaining yourself, because the skills and experience you gain will look great on your CV and really help if you apply for a college /university place or paid full time employment.

As examples of recent fund raising activity, we recently held a marathon static bike ride supported by 1610 Fitness Centres, and we are currently being supported by Somerset Chamber of Commerce with their charity golf day. It will be part of your job to initiate and promote similar fund raising activty.

Working here could be great fun and rewarding and you will work with a dedicated team in the office. Please note, this is a volunteer position.
